Luke Massena
Luke Massena wasn’t even supposed to exist. He was a side character with a really big voice. Sort of like Nick. Nick was supposed to be Jason’s friend and nothing more. Well, Luke wasn’t supposed to even get that much. Read on to find out how Luke became a beloved member of the Crane Family. And maybe I’ll tell you just what his fate was supposed to be…
When I wrote Luke, he was originally supposed to be nothing more than a spy put into the Massena Mafia by the Ambrosio Mafia. I had initially wanted him to be the older brother of Chad, Arianna’s tormentor. His ability and skill to find people was meant to be his super power. The reason he was such a valued member of the Ambrosio Mafia, despite the fact that he was the oldest son and heir.
Luke was meant to be very loyal to his father and allies. But he was also meant to be stupid. Going up against Ryan Crane, of all people, would show both his cockiness and his stupidity. Going after Arianna and believing he could get to her through Ryan, his family, and his guards, was going to be Luke’s downfall. His ending was going to be gruesome.
In the original version of Dangerously Forbidden Love, the version I had written on the Chapter’s app, there was a chapter from Ryan’s POV. They had caught Luke. Arianna had been locked in the bedroom. She could hear everything going on. It was a part she knew about Ryan, but had never seen or heard or been a part of. The scene was a torture scene. The original idea was that Luke would be killed by waterboarding.
Luke, though, had other ideas. He asked what people would think if it was revealed he was really Arianna’s brother? What if he was a cop turned ATF agent? What if he was there to warn Ryan? Help him? Protect the sister he didn’t know he had?
I agreed. I liked Luke’s idea. I knew that he would end up becoming a main character. People were going to love him. They were going to want a book with him. I had a plan. Luke was going to be in love with his boss’ daughter. Forbidden. Never fall for your boss’ daughter. When his boss’ daughter went missing, Luke was going to use those incredible skills to find her. The idea was to take on the sex-trafficking world. She was going to be investigating a sex-trafficking ring and was going to end up being taken.
The ring, of course, was going to be being run by Matthew Lucinio. My idea was that Luke was going to ask Ryan for help in finding the girl he loved, but couldn’t admit to loving. He was going to go all out. Cross lines Ryan hadn’t let Taylor or Jason cross. Luke was meant to be his own special kind of Alpha male.
But Luke also didn’t like that idea. And I suppose I should have known. As soon as he met Robby, the sparks were there. I just refused to see them. I had plans for them both. I had whole books written in my head for them. Didn’t Luke understand that?
But, much like Robby, Luke decided that he didn’t want a book written about him that was false. Nope. Luke was also very gay. And he was very, very in love with Robby. His Robby. Luke is very much an Alpha male. He’s very dominant. He’s dark. He won’t let anything stop him from protecting his family or the man he loves. He doesn’t show weakness to anyone.
Robby, though… Robby is Luke’s safe harbor. A place he doesn’t have to be the strong one. A place he can fall apart and not be afraid to show the chips in his armor. Robby is non-judgmental. He loves Luke with all he is and gives Luke all he needs.
Luke’s love for Robby is beyond epic to me. Their love is… ethereal. It’s not even on the same stratosphere as everyone else’s. It belongs in it’s own world. It’s own galaxy.
Just as Robby holds my soul…Luke… Luke owns me.
