Dallas Cassidy
When we thought up Dallas Cassidy, she had a WHOLE other story going on. Our plot for her was so different than how it all ended up. Honestly, I don’t know how Laura and I managed to go from one end of the spectrum to something so drastically different on the other end. I’d say it was because we were drunk, but we don’t drink. Lack of sleep? I don’t know, but would you like to read a little more about Viper’s Venom’s Princess and the Queen of the Lucinio Mafia? Read on and find out!
Okay, so Dallas. Originally, her plot was that she was going to escape from an abusive relationship and run to her brother. We had no idea who her brother was going to be, but we knew he’d be affiliated in some way to Josh Lucinio. Her brother was going to ask Josh for help keeping his little sister safe. Josh, being the protective man he is, was going to agree and fall in love with the quiet woman with a fiery, Southern soul. And that was only if she ended up with Josh. We had no idea.
Well, I guess neither of them liked that because they were simply not talking to me at all. I wanted to do the Lucinio Family series, but I had no plot. Nothing. And having nothing meant no series. No series meant no subsequent series. It all ended up one giant ball of chaotic mess that needed to be fixed.
And then one day, it all came together. Dallas came to be in Love In The Dark, just like Raleigh. And just like that, we had a whole plot for a whole series. Granted, the plot changed considerably from how it all started, but I like that it’s evolved.
So, instead of Dallas being a Texas girl who needed a safe place, she became a tortured and quiet soul herself. Broken by a past she couldn’t even remember. A past so traumatizing that she allowed herself to believe something else happened completely.
While the push and pull between her and Josh grows greater, she’s rapidly nearing her own mental break. Broken pieces are stomped on and shattered into unrecognizable pieces that will never be able to be put back together.
Except by one man. Josh. The true love of her life. I’m a sucker for an age gap. I love them. I try to show them as normal because love is love, but I always call out grooming and morals. Grooming is never okay. I wanted to explore it a little more and really take on all of the differences between love and grooming because I really don’t think a lot of people know the difference nowadays. Hopefully, I got to educate a few people, but I don’t feel like I got as deeply into it as I could’ve.
Dallas and Josh were really put through the emotional ringer. I hope I really did them justice, though, and that their love shines through at the other end.
What about you guys? How do you feel about Josh and Dallas?
